The rare Morgan US Silver Dollar was originally minted between 1878 and 1904. Struck using silver from Nevada’s Comstock Lode, America’s richest silver strike ever, over half a billion Morgans were produced by US Mints. In 1918, nearly all of them were melted down with the passage of the Pittman Act. In 1960, an undisclosed quantity was discovered in United States Treasury vaults and Morgan pure silver dollars were once again available to collectors.
